May Crownings 2013
May is the month to honor Mary, who as Our Lady of Sorrows is the patroness of the Congregation of Holy Cross. U.S. Province parishes and apostolates honored the Blessed Virgin with traditional May Crownings and a Rosary Rally.
2013 Ordinations
With the 2013 Ordinations, the Congregation of Holy Cross ordained three new priests on Saturday, April 6, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. The Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, C.S.C., Bishop of Peoria, Ill., conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders on Brian C. Ching, C.S.C., Mark F. DeMott, C.S.C., and Jarrod M. Waugh, C.S.C.
2012 Final Vows
With the 2012 Final Vows, the Congregation of Holy Cross welcomed its newest deacons — Brian C. Ching, C.S.C., Mark F. DeMott, C.S.C., and Jarrod M. Waugh, C.S.C. — during ceremonies at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame, in which they made their Final Profession of Vows on Saturday, August 25. They were ordained to the Order of Deacon on Sunday, Aug. 26.
2012 Ordinations
With the 2012 Ordinations, the Congregation of Holy Cross ordained one new priest on Saturday, April 14, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. The Most Reverend Kevin C. Rhoades, D.D., Bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend, conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders on Matthew C. Kuczora, C.S.C.
2011 Final Vows
With the 2011 Final Vows, the Congregation of Holy Cross has welcomed its newest deacon — Matthew C. Kuczora, C.S.C. — following ceremonies in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame in which he made his Final Profession of Vows on Saturday, August 27, and was ordained to the Order of Deacon on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Ybarra, C.S.C .— following ceremonies in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame in which he made his Final Profession of Vows on Saturday, Aug. 28, and was ordained to the Order of Deacon on Sunday, Aug. 29.

Olinger, Jr., C.S.C.—following ceremonies in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame in which they made their Final Profession of Vows on Saturday, Aug. 29, and were ordained to the Order of Deacon on Sunday, Aug. 30.

With 2009 Ordinations, the Congregation of Holy Cross ordained three new priests Saturday, April 18, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. The Most Rev. John G. Vlazny, the Archbishop of Portland in Oregon, conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders on Vincent A. Kuna, C.S.C.; Charles F. McCoy, C.S.C.; and Aaron J. Michka, C.S.C.
2008 Final Vows
With the 2008 Final Vows, three Holy Cross seminarians made their final profession of vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross at a celebration of the Eucharist in Notre Dame’s Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Saturday, Aug. 30. On the following day, the three — Mr. Vincent A. Kuna, C.S.C., Mr. Charles McCoy, C.S.C., and Mr. Aaron Michka, C.S.C. — were ordained to the Order of Deacon by Bishop John D’Arcy of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. These are key steps on the journey to ordination as a Holy Cross priest.
2008 Ordinations
With the 2008 Ordinations, the Congregation of Holy Cross ordained two priests, Andrew M. Gawrych, C.S.C., and Stephen A. Lacroix, C.S.C., on March 30, 2008, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, located at the University of Notre Dame.
2007 Cardinal McCarrick: A Homily for Blessed Basil Moreau
Following the beatification of Rev. Basil Moreau, C.S.C., the founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross, in September 2007, Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, archbishop emeritus of Washington, D.C., presided at a Mass of thanksgiving. The Cardinal, a good friend of Holy Cross and the recipient of an honorary degree from the University of Notre Dame, offered thanks to God for Blessed Father Moreau’s model of holiness. The Mass at St. Julian Cathedral in Le Mans, France, on Sept. 16, included this homily for Blessed Basil Moreau.
ND Prayercast
ND Prayercast is a multimedia project by the University of Notre Dame’s Office of Campus Ministry that can be used by anyone from those discerning a call to the priesthood to current students or alumni. The foundation of building a prayer connection to God starts by attending mass weekly. But through the use of Prayercast, that connection is enhanced throughout the week by giving participants access to archived homilies on iTunes and live webcast and videos of Sunday mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
