Dear Holy Cross Family,
My name is Phil Pollice, and I am this year’s president of the Men’s Boxing Club here at Notre Dame. As you may already know, one of Notre Dame’s richest and longest-standing annual traditions has kicked off and is running full-steam ahead: The Notre Dame Men’s Boxing Club Tournament, better known as Bengal Bouts.
This year marks the 96th anniversary of the tournament, a time when Notre Dame men across all disciplines of study and walks of life prepare themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually to enter the ring, in order to support a Catholic mission across the globe through the Holy Cross Missions in Bangladesh. The Congregation of Holy Cross first arrived in present-day Bangladesh in 1853, only 16 years after the founding of the Congregation. Since then, for over 170 years, the priests, brothers, and sisters of Holy Cross have provided educational and health services to millions of Bangladeshis in need. I am writing to invite you to attend our much-anticipated Bengal Bouts Championship with 12 weight classes on the line!
The Final will take place on March 28th, 2026, in Purcell Pavilion at 7:00 PM.
This club has meant everything to me in my time at Notre Dame and has made a deep impact on the person I am today. Beyond being able to fulfill the universal Catholic call to serve the poor, this club has developed my character and has given me the opportunity to create everlasting friendships with multiple generations of Bengal Bouts boxers, and given me experiences that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
