On the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, a victim and beloved member of our community was remembered in a very special way. Rev. Francis Grogan, C.S.C., was aboard United Flight 175 flying standby to visit his sister in California when it crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
New York’s Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan used Fr. Grogan’s chalice and patent during this year’s memorial Mass at St. Peter’s Church on Barclay Street, New York.
As a “family member” and on behalf of the entire Holy Cross Community, United States Province Fourth Assistant Provincial Rev. Thomas P. Looney, C.S.C., carried Fr. Grogan’s chalice and patent to New York and also concelebrated with the Archbishop and others.
Fr. Looney was interviewed by Catholic New York, as well as by a New York documentarist, about the Fr. Grogan’s loss and the impact on the Holy Cross community.
