African Women Gather for Family Rosary Lenten Retreat in Ghana

Ghana Retreat March 18, 2014

Women travelled from throughout Ghana, Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and other African countries for a three-day Lenten Renewal Program in Cape Coast, Ghana.

The women are members of the women’s division of the Knights of Marshall, a Catholic society in several African countries. They gathered at the Holy Cross District Center at Cape Coast and were treated to time away from their everyday lives to go deeper on the theme, “Learn from the example of Jesus.” Several Holy Cross Family Ministries mission staff gave talks each day and shared how to incorporate the teachings into their lives.

These busy women were able to spend a significant time in prayer, with Rosary in the morning and the Stations of the Cross in the evening, and time throughout the day for meditation and reflection on the topics presented.

At the conclusion of the retreat, each woman received Rosaries and other materials to take their experience home with them all to fulfill Servant of God Patrick Peyton’s vision that “The Family That Prays Together Stays Together.” Family Rosary is a ministry of Holy Cross Family Ministries, which was founded by Fr. Peyton and continues to be an apostolate of the United States Province.
