Ave Crux is a magazine published by the Office of Vocations. Each year, Ave Crux profiles new seminarians, ordinations to the priesthood, as well as shares the variety of calls to many different ministries of Holy Cross priests and brothers around the world.
Final Vow Professions and New Beginnings
In this fall issue of AVE CRUX we introduce our new Old Collegians and Postulants, as well as our Senior Old Collegian, who'll be finishing his undergraduate studies while living at Moreau Seminary. Ordinations to the Priesthood
In April of 2022 we celebrated the Ordination of Fr. Drew Clary, C.S.C., Fr. Cameron Cortens, C.S.C., and Fr. Gabriel Griggs, C.S.C. Learn a little more about each of these men, what led them to the priesthood, their experiences diaconate ministry, and why they are looking forward to their lives as Holy Cross priests.
Venerable Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., and Holy Cross Family Ministries
In this special edition of Ave Crux we examine the life and legacy of Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C. Born to a poor Catholic family, Father Peyton's miraculous recovery from tuberculosis forged an iron bond with the woman to whom he attributed his recovery; The Blessed Virgin Mary. Armed with utmost confidence in her, Father Peyton traveled the world to spread devotion to her through recitation of the family Rosary. Even though Father Peyton has passed on to his eternal reward, he lives on in the many ministries inspired by his work including Family Rosary, Family Theater Productions, Father Peyton Family Institutes, Catholic Mom, and the Museum of Family Prayer. Pray, The Story of Patrick Peyton, a documentary about his life, was released in 2020. The film is available on DVD or for digital purchase on ITunes, Amazon, and Google Play.
Final Professions and New Beginnings
Even though we are still being vigilant against the Covid-19 Virus, we were able to celebrate Final Vows this Fall! In this new issue of Ave Crux, meet the men who professed their Final Vows in Holy Cross, as well as men who are just beginning, or who are moving forward, in their journey of discernment.
Ordinations to the Priesthood
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, the ordination Mass scheduled for the spring of 2020 was postponed. However, we were still able to produce this great issue of Ave Crux to tell the stories of the ordinandi in anticipation of the big event.
Brothers in Christ
In this winter issue of Ave Crux we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Brothers of Holy Cross. Learn more about the history of the Holy Cross brothers, read articles by a current brother, and a brother in formation all in this special edition.

The Ordinandi
In this spring edition Ave Crux, we give you a closer look at the stories of our Ordinandi; Fr. Michael Palmer, C.S.C., and Fr. Ryan Pietrocarlo, C.S.C. Though they've been classmates since Old Collge, their path through formation has been unique for both of them, and has ultimately led them into two very different apostolates. However, they will always be brother priests in Holy Cross.
What We Do and Who We Are
In this second edition of our newly designed vocation magazine; Ave Crux, we share the stories of three Holy Cross priests. Each of them serves in one of the three main ministerial charisms of the Congregation; Education, Parish and Mission. These three priests share examples of serving the people of God in very different ways, and yet each brings a distinctly Holy Cross character to his life and work.
