Family Rosary Announces ‘Try Prayer’ Contest Winners

Prayer Contest Winner by Madison Warren

Fourteen students have been named first-place winners of the 2013 “Try Prayer! It Works!” Contest sponsored by Family Rosary.

There were 22,000 entries and 1,100 finalists, in this year’s 18th annual art contest, which was based on the Third Joyful Mystery of the Rosary: The Nativity. Entries were judged on content, ability to capture and interpret the theme, artistic and technical proficiency and adherence to the rules. Participants were encouraged to express their faith through art, poetry and prose. In the United States, at least three winners are chosen per grade (kindergarten through 12th) in first-, second- and third-places. First-place winners are awarded $100 and their sponsoring organization receives $100 and the “Think Good Thoughts” DVD. Runners-up in grades six to 12 get the “You Will See” DVDs, while runners-up in grades kindergarten through five get “The Life of Christ” DVD series from Holy Cross Family Ministries.

The 2014 contest is already underway with the theme “Lord, I believe; Help my unbelief,” based on the Fourth Joyful Mystery: The Presentation in the Temple.

Family Rosary is part of Holy Cross Family Ministries, North Easton, Mass., a mission of the Congregation of Holy Cross, United States Province of Priests and Brothers. Family Rosary aims to strengthen families throughout the world through the prayer of the Rosary.
