Rev. David Guffey, C.S.C., has been appointed the national director of Family Theater Productions, a ministry of Holy Cross Family Ministries.
Fr. David will take over on July 1, 2014, when Rev. Willy Raymond, C.S.C., moves to his new appointment as president of Holy Cross Family Ministries. Rev. John Phalen, C.S.C., current president of HCFM, will become the novice director in Peru in 2015. Both Family Theater and HCFM are apostolates of the United States Province.
Fr. David currently serves as head of production, overseeing film, television, radio and video at Family Theater Productions in Hollywood.
As head of production, Fr. David is responsible for moving a project from development through post-production. He produces television, film and video programs, including planning the production budget and assembling and supervising the crew during filming and post-production.Fr. David has numerous credits for his award-winning work in television and film. They include “Carrying On,” “You Will See,” “Finding Mary” and “Assumptions” all with Family Theater Productions. He was also writer and director for the short film “Last Deal at the Mt. Carroll Gun Club.”
As national director, Fr. David will be responsible for all activities of Family Theater Productions, including both the media production of his current role and pastoral outreach. “Hollywood Prays,” the outreach efforts to young Catholics and others in Hollywood includes monthly Prayer and Pasta gatherings, RCIA classes, Going Deeper (a new evangelization initiative), Faith & Film Bible Study and Theology of the Body workshops, as well as daily Rosary and Mass and the weekly Eucharistic Holy Hour.
