Fr. Tyson Named Regent Emeritus at University of Portland

Father David Tyson and Father Bill BeauchampRev. David Tyson, C.S.C., Provincial Superior of the United States Province of Priests and Brothers, has been elected a Regent Emeritus by the University of Portland’s Board of Regents.

Fr. Tyson was Portland’s 18th President, from 1990 to 2003. Fr. Tyson was awarded the University’s highest honor – the Christus Magister Medal – at this year’s commencement.

He also washonored by the University of Notre Dame, where he received an honorary Doctor of Laws and waselected a Trustee Emeritus by the University’s Board of Trustees.

Tyson’s tenure as Provincial Superior ends June 22, when he will complete a nine-year term.
