Rev. David Tyson, C.S.C., Provincial Superior of the United States Province of Priests and Brothers, has been elected a Regent Emeritus by the University of Portland’s Board of Regents.
Fr. Tyson was Portland’s 18th President, from 1990 to 2003. Fr. Tyson was awarded the University’s highest honor – the Christus Magister Medal – at this year’s commencement.
He also washonored by the University of Notre Dame, where he received an honorary Doctor of Laws and waselected a Trustee Emeritus by the University’s Board of Trustees.
Tyson’s tenure as Provincial Superior ends June 22, when he will complete a nine-year term.
