Holy Cross Family Ministries Sponsors Marian Chapel at WYD 2013

Love and Live Center (World Youth Day 2011, Madrid)

Holy Cross Family Ministries, with the support from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, will again sponsor the House of Mary Chapel at this year’s World Youth Day. The Marian chapel will feature the Luminous Mysteries dramatically portrayed on four screens surrounding the young pilgrims with a very unique and spiritual way to pray the Rosary. The scenes will be set to original music by Spanish musician Luis Alfredo Diaz.

This year’s World Youth Day will be held July 23 – July 28 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. HCFM’S Marian Chapel will be a part of the special Welcome Center for English-Speaking Pilgrims at “Vivo Rio.” The Welcome Center features catechismal speakers, prayer and worship experiences, music, media and videos, motivational speakers, cultural presentations and networking activities.

At World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, the House of Mary Chapel was part of the Love and Life Center, the largest venue for English-speaking pilgrims. It also offered concerts, catechismal speakers (including some many Holy Cross religious) and a Vocations Cafe (which was also partly staffed by Holy Cross religious). HCFM also handed out approximately 600,000 Rosaries at WYD 2011.

Holy Cross Family Ministries was founded more than 70 years ago by Holy Cross priest Servant of God Patrick Peyton. Its mission is to promote and support the spiritual well-being of the family by its many ministries: Family Rosary works to make the Rosary widely known in the U.S. and throughout the world; Family Theater Productions inspires and educates families through its original quality film, television and radio programming; and the Fr. Peyton Family Institute works to identify the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the family by creating programs to address those needs.
