Holy Cross Religious Join Staff of Stonehill College

Stonehill College President Rev. Mark Cregan, C.S.C., (’78) has announced the appointments of Rev. Hugh Cleary, C.S.C., (’69) as the Director of Campus Ministry and Rev. Robert Wiseman, C.S.C.,as the Alumni and Athletic Chaplain.

Father Hugh Cleary

Fr. Cleary most recently served as Superior General of the Congregation of Holy Cross from 1998-2010 with residence in Rome, Italy. As Superior General, he was responsible for the more than 1,600 Holy Cross priests and brothers serving throughout the world. Prior to being elected Superior General, Fr. Cleary was the Provincial of the former Eastern Province (on July 1, 2011 the Eastern Province merged into the Indiana Province forming the new United States Province of Priests and Brothers).

A 1969 graduate of Stonehill, he was named the College’s Outstanding Alumnus in 2007. Fr. Cleary also holds masters’ degrees in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, Counseling Psychology from Loyola University, and Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University. Additionally, he holds a doctorate degree in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne.

Father Robert Wiseman

Fr. Wiseman has been ministering for the last 35 years, most recently serving as the Parochial Vicar at St. Jerome’s Parish in Largo, Florida. His other appointments include Vocation Director of the former Eastern Province (1992-1994) and Director of Campus Ministry at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Loyola University and a master’s degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame.

In his role as the Alumni and Athletic Chaplain, Fr. Wiseman will attend to the sacramental and spiritual needs of Stonehill’s alumni, student-athletes and coaches.
