King’s Students Visit Peyton Center in Peru

Four King’s College students are participating in a three-week study aboard in Canto Grande, Peru.

Their trip is taking them to the Peyton Center, a facility operated by the U.S. Province’s Holy Cross Family Ministries near Lima. The students — Steven Hippeli and Connor Murphy, both of Mountain Top, Pa.; Julia Mackinnon of Boston; and Bennett Williams of Kingston, Pa. — also will visit Paracas and Machu Picchu.

The program is called “Conversing Across Cultures” and features a number of activities such as language and culture classes and interactive sessions with native speakers, a community service initiative at a local school and lectures at Ponificia Universidad Catolica de Lima. The program is designed to broaden students’ cultural perspectives, offer comparisons between U.S. and Peruvian cultures and provide real-world opportunities to use Spanish.
