A recent graduate of the University of Portland, a ministry of the Congregation of Holy Cross, U.S. Province of Priests and Brothers, will head to Uganda this summer as part of the Holy Cross Overseas Lay Ministry Program.
Madeleine Ann Padon will leave for East Africa in August, joining Gregory Thomas Woods of the University of Notre Dame, another U.S. Province ministry, on the 16-month program.
In the missionary spirit of Holy Cross founder Blessed Basil Moreau, the OLM program offersrecent college graduates opportunities to serve with Holy Cross in either Chile or Uganda through prayer, mission and community.
OLMs live with or in close proximity to Holy Cross Religious andenjoy a direct experience of the Congregation’s international mission and spirituality. The OLMs teach in Holy Cross primary or secondary schools and assist in parishes, health care or other social service ministries.
There are a number of Notre Dame graduates in the 2011-2012 OLM program. Those serving in Uganda are Annapatrice Fischer Clarke, Cody James Eckert and Shane Eugene O’Brien. Michael Quinn Hogan and Bridget Theresa Mullins are serving in a 17-month program in Chile.
