Rev. James M. Lies, C.S.C., has beennamed Vice President for Mission at Stonehill College, Easton, Mass, by the Stonehill Board of Trustees.
Fr. Lies, who is a member of the Stonehill Board of Trustees, will begin his appointment in late summer. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Garaventa Center for Catholic Intellectual Life and American Culture at the University of Portland.
Both Stonehill and Portland are educational ministries of the U.S. Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
Fr. Lies also is an Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Portland, a position to which he was recently promoted and tenured. He has also served as a Pastoral Resident in Shipstad Hall at UP since 2006.
President of Stonehill Rev. Mark Cregan, C.S.C., also appointed Fr. Lies to the Psychology Department as a tenured Associate Professor.
Fr. Lies has a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley and a Master of Arts in counseling from the University of Notre Dame.
He was born in Little Falls, Minn., on July 4, 1962.Fr. Liesmade his Final Vows on Aug. 31, 1996, and was ordained to the priesthood on April 5, 1997. His twin brother Rev. William M. Lies, C.S.C., is also a Holy Cross priest and was recently named VP for Mission Engagement & Church Affairs at the University of Notre Dame.
