University of Portland Community Celebrates its President-Elect

Fathers Beauchamp and Poorman and Tom Arndorfer, member of the board of regents and chair of the presidential search committee

The University of Portland community on Jan. 27, 2013, celebrated Rev. Mark Poorman, C.S.C., who was named president-elect of the University on Jan. 25.

Fr. Poorman will succeed Rev. William Beauchamp, C.S.C., after the end of this school year as Portland’s 20th president.

Fr. Poorman has been executive vice president at UP since 2011, overseeing the divisions of University operations, financial affairs, University relations and student affairs. He also has served as a professor of theology and pastoral resident of Schoenfeldt Hall. Prior to arriving on The Bluff, he served as vice president for student affairs, a faculty member in the theology department, and pastoral resident at theUniversity of Notre Dame.
