The holy season of Lent begins March 9thon Ash Wednesday, calling Christians to prayer, penance, and almsgiving. As we begin these 40 days of Lent, it is a time to accept the call of Jesus to “Repent and believe in the Gospel” (Mark 1:15).

One of the traditional devotions for the Lenten Season has been the Stations of the Cross, which invites us to join Jesus on the steps that led him to die for us on Calvary. This year, Holy Cross has published a new set of stations throughAve Maria Press, entitledYou Have Redeemed the World, which draws on the insight of our founder, Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C. He wrote, “Human life is like a great Way of the Cross. We do not have to go to the chapel or church to go through the different stations. This Way of the Cross is everywhere and we travel it every day, even in spite of ourselves and without being aware of it.” In addition to the English version, this is the first book everpublished in Spanishby Ave Maria Press.

This book of prayer and meditation, compiled and edited by Andrew Gawrych, C.S.C. and Kevin Grove, C.S.C., draws on the ministerial and life experiences of Holy Cross religious from around the world. With them, we are invited to enter deeply into the mystery of Christ’s Cross according to the motto of the Congregation of Holy Cross:”Ave Crux, Spec Unica”(Hail the Cross, Our Only Hope).
