In order to be a foreign missionary, one must know the mystery of the cross. From the mystery of the cross, the missionary must draw the apostolic strength of those generous imitators of Jesus Christ, whose life below was but a continuous martyrdom. —Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C
Within a few short years of founding the Congregation, Fr. Basil Moreau, C.S.C., sent his priests, brothers and sisters out into the world to establish foreign missionaries. The Holy Cross Mission Center is sponsored by the U.S. Province and supports those locations for which the U.S. Province has direct jurisdiction, those areas with which the U.S. Province has a special relationship along with supporting the Congregation of Holy Cross’ worldwide international mission work. Through the Mission Center’s Overseas Lay Missionary (OLM) program, lay post-graduate students from our Holy Cross colleges and universities are able to work alongside us in our mission schools in Chile and Uganda.
