Mission Center Projects
Now in its 16th year, Notre Dame Women's Boxing Club's annual tournament, the Baraka Bouts, will feature over 100 amateur fighters over the course of three day tournament to raise money for the construction of a much needed dining hall at St. Joseph Hill Secondary School in Kyarusozi, Uganda. (A rendering of the proposed dining hall is pictured below).
Last year, the club raised over $110,000 and their donations were matched by the Wolohan Family Foundation; together their work allowed the construction of a new girls' dormitory at the new Holy Cross Lake View Secondary School campus. The new dorm will be home to about 500 young women studying at Holy Cross Lake View Secondary School in Kyambogo, Uganda.
The tournament begins at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6 in the Dahnke Ballroom (Duncan Student Center). Semi-finals will take place on Monday, Nov 12 and begin at 7 p.m. in the Dahnke Ballroom. Winners of the Semi-final rounds will go onto the Finals, which begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov 14 in the Dahnke Ballroom. Tickets cost $10 and are available online at the Notre Dame Athletics site or at the door.
