This Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of your information when you use our website and tells you about your privacy rights.

This statement applies only to the holycrossusa.org domain, and not to other websites the user may consult through links to other domains.

Sharing of Data

Information the User provides voluntarily either to the Province’ Office of Mission Advancement or to the Holy Cross Mission Center (Holy Cross Foreign Mission Society, Inc.) will be shared with the other.  If the User wishes to discontinue this sharing, he/she should either call the Office of Mission Advancement at 574-631-6731 or the Holy Cross Mission Center at 574-631-5477, or email communications@holycrossusa.org .

 

Use of Navigation Data

The computer systems and software procedures that operate this website acquire, during their normal exercise, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of the Internet communication protocols. These are details that are not collected to be associated with identified data subjects, but which by their very nature could, through elaborations and associations with data held by third parties, allow users to be identified.

This category of data includes, but is not limited to, the IP addresses or domain names of the computers used by the users who connect to the site, the IP address of your mobile device, the type of mobile device you use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data, your mobile operating system, browser type, browser version, the addresses in the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) notation of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used when submitting the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response given by the server (good end, error, etc.), the pages of our website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other parameters related to the operating system and the user’s computing environment.

This data is used only for the purpose of deriving anonymous statistical information on the use of the site and for checking its correct functioning. The data could be used for the assessment of liability in case of hypothetical cyber crimes against the site.

The user assumes responsibility for use by such and similar third parties of the personal data obtained through this website, releasing the Province from any liability for such third-party use.

The Province may purchase statistical information on our website’s usage from a web analytics company.  The Province may then advertise the Province or some part thereof to a certain portion of our website’s users, e.g. advertise to users in a certain zip code.  The Province does not, and will not, receive in the process any individual personal user data.  Should User see such ads after unsubscribing, please note that such advertising is not targeted to the individual user, and is not further communication from the Province.  User may be able to limit such advertising by limiting User’s browser cookies, etc.

 

Use of Data Voluntarily Provided by the User

With your permission, we may collect Personal Data via this website, either independently or through third parties.  Such Personal Data may include:

Vocations’ purpose is to encourage and enable young men to explore their call to the religious life and to discern whether to join our religious formation program.  By voluntarily providing Vocations his data, User is indicating his interest in receiving more information, and is initiating an ongoing conversation / communication with the Province.  User can end this conversation at any time by contacting the Vocations Department:  vocations@holycrossusa.org , 574-631-6385.

Storage Period

Your data will be processed both by computerized and paper-based support, for the time necessary to achieve the purposes for which the same is collected, observing the rules regarding the protection of personal data, including those related to data security, in order to avoid data loss, illegal or improper use, and unauthorized access.

“Navigation data” will be retained as long as it is needed to perform website analytics or to strengthen the security or improve the functionality of our website.  Personal data will be retained for the purpose for which it was given, and will be retained in accordance with the privacy laws, including as necessary to comply with our legal obligations and to resolve disputes.  Data may, by law, be retained for archiving in the public interest, for scientific or historical research, or for statistical purposes.

 

Processing of User’s Data

The processing of data connected to the web services of this site takes place at the head offices of the Province and is handled by provincial staff, or, in case of technical or logistical needs, by external professionals who maintain the provincial website or who provide specific services such as collection and/or storage of data, and/or data processing. An updated list of Data Processors may always be requested from the Province.
