Fr. Drew Clary, C.S.C.

Rev. Drew Clary, C.S.C.

dclary@holycrossusa.org

Director, Office of Vocations

Fr. Drew is originally from St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville, Texas, part of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. He attended the University of Notre Dame and studied Economics and Political Science while living in Fisher Hall. Instead of pursuing law school as he had planned, he taught as an ACE Teaching Fellow in the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE). There, he fell in love with Catholic education and, after graduating from ACE in 2011, he worked as the Associate Director of Notre Dame’s Institute for Educational Initiatives for several years before discerning God’s call to enter Holy Cross. Ordained a Holy Cross Priest in 2022, Fr. Drew spent his deacon year and first year of priesthood as a middle school teacher and administrator at St. Adalbert School (South Bend, Indiana). He also served as Associate Pastor to the St. Adalbert and St. Casimir Parishes.

Fr. John DeRiso, C.S.C.

Rev. Andrew Fritz, C.S.C.

afritz@holycrossusa.org

Associate Director, Office of Vocations

Fr. Andrew grew up in Columbia, Maryland of the Archdiocese of Baltimore: the “Premier See” of America! While in high school Fr. Andrew encountered the Lord and met the Congregation of Holy Cross for the first time. Upon graduation, he entered the Old College Undergraduate Seminary formation program, studying at Holy Cross College and transferring to the University of Notre Dame where he received a bachelor’s in Anthropology and Philosophy. He entered the novitiate in 2016 with Fr. Drew Clary, CSC, professed Final Vows in 2022, and was ordained a Holy Cross Priest on April 15, 2023. Since July of 2021 Fr. Andrew has served at St. John Vianney Parish (Goodyear, AZ) as a pastoral year seminarian, deacon, and parochial vicar through his first two years of priesthood. Prior to joining the Vocations Office, Fr. Andrew also recently served for one year as Pastoral Director of Andre House of Hospitality – an apostolate of the Congregation which serves the poor on the streets of Phoenix, AZ.

Mr. Matthew Bartek

Mr. Matthew Bartek

Assistant Director, Office of Vocations

Though born in Nebraska, Matt has lived most of his life in South Bend and has been a proud member of Holy Cross parish communities since his childhood at Christ the King Catholic School. He is married to Christy Bartek — a product of a rival Holy Cross grade school run by St. Joseph Catholic Church. Their marriage was officiated by a Holy Cross priest. Matt and Christy have two children, Paetra and Paul, both of whom were baptized at and still attend St. Joseph Parish. Before joining the vocations team to serve the mission of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Matt worked in private Christian education as a teacher and administrator for 22 years.

Mr. Jesse Iamarino

Program Specialist, Office of Vocations

Despite growing up in East Lansing, MI, Jesse has long found South Bend to be home as the son of ND Law graduates and grandson of a Notre Dame football player. Jesse spent 5 years at Franciscan University earning a BA in Theology & Catechetics and a MA in Theological Studies, the same place where he had a reversion in 2015, sparking a deep love for the Lord that led him to pursue ministry and discern the priesthood. Prior to joining the Vocations Office team he held many roles over 11 years including Program Coordinator of the Youth Track for the 2024 National Eucharistic Congress and multiple roles coordinating and directing nonprofit outreaches. Jesse’s years discerning the priesthood in high school were very impactful, making him eager to assist young men in their process of discernment.

Passionate about evangelization, Mary is dedicated to sharing the charism and mission of Holy Cross through both print and digital media.
