The Holy Cross Mission Center (HCMC) is excited to report continued engagement with the community through the following efforts:
- Gathering Feedback to Strengthen the Twinning Program: HCMC Outreach Coordinator Maria Kangapadan has been in conversation with international leaders of the Congregation of Holy Cross to learn more about the impact of the Twinning Program within their ministries. Through these conversations, Maria received photographs showcasing ministry programs and liturgical celebrations, as well as reflections on how the Twinning Program has supported their communities. Maria also gathered valuable feedback from Twinning Partners across the United States regarding their experiences this year and ways the HCMC can better support their Twinning Partnerships. We are grateful to all our partners for sharing their insights as we continue working to strengthen and improve the Twinning Program. If you are not a registered Twinning Partner and would like to learn more, you may visit twinning.holycrossmissions.org.
- Discussions on Strengthening Partnerships with Notre Dame Boxing Clubs: Maria has been working with leadership from the University of Notre Dame’s Men’s and Women’s Boxing Clubs to explore ways to strengthen the partnership between the clubs and the HCMC. Discussions have focused on developing fundraising incentives that support Holy Cross missions abroad while encouraging continued engagement from student leaders. These conversations have also included exploring how similar fundraising initiatives could be adapted for other programmatic partnerships, including the Twinning Program. We are thankful for the continued commitment of the boxing clubs and look forward to future collaboration.
- Collaboration with Holy Cross in Peru: Maria has been in conversation with Kelly Chimeta, Administrative Secretary for the Congregation of Holy Cross in Peru, regarding opportunities for collaboration between the HCMC and Holy Cross ministries in Peru. Their discussions have focused on ways the HCMC can support ministries in Peru as they host immersion participants from Holy Cross institutions in the United States who visit through Twinning Partnerships and service immersion programs. Kelly also shared information about how she welcomes student groups and other visitors to the Peyton Center in Peru, including examples of activities, service opportunities, and cultural experiences available to participants during their visits. These conversations will help Maria better assist prospective immersion participants as they discern and plan the immersion experience that best fits their interests, goals, and educational needs. We are grateful for Kelly’s partnership and look forward to continuing these important conversations as we strengthen connections between ministries and immersion participants.
- St. Joseph Parish, South Bend, Establishes Twinning Partnership Through the HCMC: The HCMC is pleased to share that the Twinning Partnership between St. Joseph Parish in South Bend and Immaculate Conception School and Parish in Haiti has been formally registered through the HCMC. The partnership between the two communities has been ongoing since 2018 and has supported several important initiatives over the years, including funding for school meals and campus-wide Wi-Fi access. Most recently, the St. Joseph Parish community committed to helping fund the construction of a church building at Immaculate Conception. We are grateful for the generosity and dedication of the St. Joseph Parish community, especially Pastor Rev. Matt Fase, C.S.C., and the Haiti Committee, and we look forward to seeing this partnership continue to flourish.
