Fr. Groody to Speak on Immigration in Granger, Ind.

Rev. Daniel Groody, C.S.C.,is speaking on immigration as part of an ongoing speaker series at St. Pius X Church,”Saint Pius University,” beginning at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16, 2013.

Fr. Groody is associate professor of theology and director of the Immigration Initiative at the Institute for Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame. His topic will be “Out of the Darkness, a Focus on Immigration.” The evening begins with a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Education Center Library at St. Pius, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, Ind. Fr. Groody’s presentation will follow at 7 p.m.

Fr. Groody is a Holy Cross priest, scholar, teacher and award-winning author and film producer. He has worked with Congress, the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops, the World Council of Churches and the Vatican on issues of theology, globalization and immigration. He teaches courses on U.S. Latino spirituality, globalization, Christian spirituality and social justice. Fr. Groody also lectures widely in the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

The “Saint Pius University” speakers series invites professors at local colleges and universities to share their gifts and talents with the parish community through presentations and seminars which connect their area of expertise with the Catholic faith.
