Observe the Month of the Rosary With U.S. Province Apostolates

Rosary

October is the Month of the Rosary, with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on Oct. 7. U.S. Province Apostolates have several ways you can become closer to the Marian devotion this month.

Family Rosary, a ministry of Holy Cross Family Ministries, was begun by Servant of God Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., with a campaign to send 1 million Rosaries to Russia in 1991. Since then, the Rosaries for the World Program has gone global, with more than 7.5 million Rosaries distributed to families, schools and parishes around the globe.

Family Rosary has an interactive Rosary on its site to help you learn the prayers and Mysteries of the Rosary and to pray the Rosary each day. It also has a mobile Rosary app.

You can also learn how to make Rosaries by yourself or with your family to keep or give to others.

Family Rosary is participating in several events for the Month of the Rosary, including its own Outdoor Rosary Walk at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, at HCFM in Easton, Mass.

Family Rosary also is co-sponsoring the annual Albany Diocesan Rosary Celebration in Latham, N.Y., on Oct. 6, as well as a fundraiser Irish Gala in Albany, N.Y., the same day. Family Rosary also is a sponsor of the Arizona Rosary Celebration honoring Our Lady of Fatima on Oct. 12 in Tucson, Ariz., and Oct. 13 in Phoenix. You can find more information on Family Rosary events during the Month of the Rosary on its website.

At the University of Notre Dame, people gather at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes at 6:45 p.m. daily, year-round, to pray the Rosary.

In addition, Campus Ministry offers a “how-to” for praying the Rosary on its website.

Campus Ministry at the University of Portland has a Rosary Group, students who meet at 5:30 p.m. Saturdays during the school year to pray the Rosary. They meet in the Marian Garden near the Bell Tower on campus.

Ave Maria Press, a ministry of the U.S. Province, has a number of resources available on the Rosary, including “Living the Rosary: Finding Your Life in the Mysteries,” by Rev. John Phalen, C.S.C., president of HCFM, and “Your Own Mysteries: Praying Your Life Through the Rosary” by Br. Philip Armstrong, C.S.C. (MW). New this year is “Real Men Pray the Rosary: A Practical Guide to a Powerful Prayer” by David N. Calvillo, which includes a 33-day Rosary challenge.
