Most Memorable Prayer/Liturgy you have Attended: The community Masses with the three Discalced Carmelite friars who I lived with in Mexico last year.
Place of Pilgrimage you Most Want to Visit and Why: I would love to return to the sites of the Cristero Martyrs and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico. I also wish to visit major sites in the lives of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross because these saints have been important to my education and spiritual life.
Favorite Way to Pray: Recently, I have especially enjoyed praying in song and also in silence in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
What Drew you to Holy Cross? Holy Cross caught my attention after I stopped by campus on a drive home from Chicago to Detroit this past Thanksgiving. I have been increasingly drawn to the community through coming to know the charism, spirituality, and people of Holy Cross from my readings, visits, and conversations this past year.
Favorite Verse: Matthew 25:31-40
Favorite Quote: I have recently been praying with the poem “Lead, Kindly Light” by Saint John Henry Newman, which begins:
“Lead, Kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom,
Lead Thou me on;
The night is dark, and I am far from home,
Lead Thou me on.
Keep Thou my feet;
I do not ask to see the distant scene;
one step enough for me.”
How can visitors to this page pray for you? For attentiveness to God’s call, and for the courage to listen.
