Biroidakuni Hostel Receives Support for Livestock & Repairs
The Biroidakuni hostel is home to students of Biroidakuni High School, a Catholic secondary school founded in 1941 by the Congregation of Holy Cross in the Diocese of Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The hostel is managed by St. Joseph Province of Brothers and houses 120 male students in grades 4 – 10, forming them in accordance with the Catholic faith through daily Mass, evening prayer, and seasonal programs in Lent and Advent.
In February 2024, the Mission Center supported the purchase of new tables and benches for the dining hall, tables and chairs for the study hall, and the necessary repairs to the kitchen chimney and plumbing at the Hostel. The men in formation at Moreau Seminary, Notre Dame, IN, contributed to these efforts through their annual Lenten fundraiser. The money they raised contributed to the purchase of piglets, ducks and sheep (pictures below). Once raised, the livestock will provide both food and financial benefit for the school. The students experience and learn how to raise livestock, providing them valuable skills they can use to generate their own income in the future through entrepreneurship.
