Duncan Hall Twinning Leaders Begin Immersion Formation Series

Duncan Hall at the University of Notre Dame came to the Holy Cross Mission Center (HCMC) last year with two intertwining goals: (1) to deepen its Twinning partnership with St. Joseph’s Hill Senior Secondary School in Uganda and (2) to better integrate the Holy Cross charism into its community life for 200+ residents. With the support of their priest in residence, Fr. Jim Lies, C.S.C., rector Nic Schoppe began developing plans for an immersion experience for a core group of student leaders. We in the Holy Cross Mission Center were happy to assist by making the necessary connections and facilitating pre-immersion formation opportunities.

On December 4, thanks to the invitation of student leader Owen Augustine, the first of four Immersion Formation Sessions was held in Duncan Hall for the 12-person immersion group. Michael Jezewak, Assistant Director of the Holy Cross Mission Center, facilitated a presentation and discussion about Holy Cross’s Mission as evidenced by photos from Holy Cross’s ministries and anecdotes from the students themselves.

Three additional sessions will take place early in the spring semester before the Duncan Hall group visits St. Joseph’s Hill in March. Holy Cross seminarian Keenan Bross, C.S.C., who spent last year ministering in East Africa, has generously offered to assist the HCMC in facilitating these Immersion Formation Sessions.
