From August 5 to August 8, the Santa Cruz community in Peru celebrated their mid-year Assembly, which provided a meaningful way to gather as a community, strengthen fraternal bonds, and renew their commitment to their shared mission.
In the Congregation, Assemblies are formal gatherings for C.S.C.s to prepare for their jurisdiction’s ‘Chapters,’ which are formal gatherings in which topics are brought forth for discussion and voting. These types of regularly scheduled formal opportunities allow members of the Congregation to set practical goals related to finances, ministries, organizational structures, etc. — things that create the scaffolding behind other aspects of the men’s public work.
During the August Assembly, the men prayed together, shared community life, and discussed various topics important to their mission in Peru. These activities allowed them to discern together how to continue responding to the needs of the people and communities they serve.
The Assembly was also an opportunity for the men to renew their vocation and remember that they are called to be men of hope—witnesses to God’s presence in the midst of the realities of life. They left the Assembly with a renewed desire to continue proclaiming through their lives and service that God desires to be known, loved, and served.
