HCFM Leads Global Rosary Relay for Priests

HCFM Global Rosary Relay in the Phillippines

On the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Holy Cross Family Ministries has organized participation of Family Rosary and Holy Cross’ international locations for Global Rosary Relay for Priests on Friday, June 7. More than 60 locations around the world will be praying the Rosary, creating a prayer chain circling the globe.

Congregation of Holy Cross founder Blessed Basil Moreau named the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus as patron of his community of priests, a patronage that has guided and protected Holy Cross for more than 175 years.

In 2002, the Church announced a special annual World Priest Day, a day of prayer for the sanctification of priests, to be held on the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Through Holy Cross Family Ministries’ coordination, the participating Holy Cross and Family Rosary sites will pray a particular set of mysteries each half hour of the day to offer prayers of thanksgiving and support for our priests.

At the HCFM mission office in Santiago, Chile, the celebration for priests will begin with praying the Joyful Mysteries, followed by a special Mass by the Dean of the Cathedral, Msgr. Juan Suarez Campos, who as a seminarian knew Fr. Patrick Peyton, C.S.C. Servant of God Patrick Peyton, now known as the Rosary priest, founded HCFM in 1942. In the Philippines, Family Rosary staff and Holy Cross religious will also pray the Joyful Mysteries.

A special mass will be held at Notre Dame d’Orveau, France, where 300 people are expected to attend. In Uruguay, the 12 stations that transmit HCFM’s radio program, “Tiempo de Maria,” will pray the Rosary over the broadcast and pray for religious vocations.

Eight hundred students from Holy Cross Lake View Secondary School in Jinja, Uganda, will pray the Joyful Mysteries for three days. They will also offer special masses with special intentions for Holy Cross priests.
