Rev. Thomas J. O’Hara, C.S.C., Provincial Superior of the Congregation of Holy Cross, United States Province of Priests and Brothers, extends his prayers and support for the new Holy Father.
Fr. O’Hara watched the announcement live today at Provincial Administration offices in Notre Dame, Ind., when the announcement was made that Argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio had been elected the new Pope.
“The United States Province joins our fellow Catholics around the world in praying for God’s blessings upon Pope Francis I. We trust in God’s Divine Providence that our new Pope will lead the Church with zeal and provide a faithful example of steadfast stewardship and love,” said Fr. O’Hara.
